In the Mustamäe room, there was again no room for the cabinet – just a narrow gap between the piano and the desk. I remembered the slats we had painted orange a year ago for the company’s display at the telecom fair. The slender slats were just lying around in the warehouse. Should we make a shelf out of them?

At the wood store on Viadukti road, I found boards that were 145mm wide. At first, they seemed a bit narrow, but I realized that the books aren’t any wider! The wall also took up little space. The fastening screws remained visible, but those golden spots turned the shelf into a surprisingly unique appearance.

I made the height of the compartments according to the existing books. I left three compartments with double height – for the buddha and art books. Saw, chisel, drill – there was still some fiddling to do. The result can be seen in this picture – the father of all Lennart’s bookshelves with a happy owner.

Years went by, and the shelf was excellent. In the meantime, it moved to a new home and became the daughter’s possession along with the room. Dolls moved there, and Harry Potters and all sorts of little boxes and other necessary stuff.

I often looked at the piece of furniture and thought, it is indeed a beautiful bookshelf, it needs to be produced. And that thought remained.

In the spring of 2009, however, we decided to make the idea a reality together with my son Indrek. To produce shelves. Made of solid wood. Environmentally friendly.

And so it went. It turned out that people are very happy with such an ultra-thin bookshelf. You can’t find such anywhere else, many said they had been looking for something like it for years.

I wish you shelf enjoyment too,
Mario Vilbiks

["post-4585","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry
"1536x1536":false,"2048x2048":false
["GET
